Satoto Agustono is not a new figure in the national oil and gas sector. A Mechanical Engineering graduate with a Master’s in Management, he has spent more than three decades building his career in the industry, holding numerous strategic positions within Pertamina. His career milestones include:
Began his career at PT Pertamina (Persero) in 1989, contributing significantly to PT Pertamina EP.
- In 2009, appointed General Manager of UBEP Sangasanga & Tarakan at Pertamina EP.
- In March 2011, inaugurated as General Manager for the Eastern Indonesia Region (KTI) at Pertamina EP.
- In April 2013, officially served as Director of Operations, later promoted to Director of Development at Pertamina EP.
- Also served as Director of Marketing & Development at PT Pertamina Drilling Services Indonesia (PDSI).
Focus and Achievements
During his leadership in the KTI Region of Pertamina EP, Satoto was known as a results-oriented leader who prioritized operational efficiency. Several fields, including Bunyu, Sangatta, and Papua, recorded significant contributions to increasing regional oil production.
For example, production at the Bunyu field rose from around 1,800 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) to 10,300 BOPD, while the field’s gas resources were successfully utilized to supply PLN Tarakan. Under his command, Satoto emphasized aggressive exploration and development strategies to optimize oil and gas production, including maximizing the potential of existing fields and idle wells that still contained economically viable reserves.
